Dr. Naomi Young Selected as Next CEO of FDIHB
FORT DEFIANCE – The Fort Defiance Indian Hospital Board Inc. (FDIHB) is pleased to announce theappointment of Dr. Naomi Young as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective December 1, 2024.
Dr. Young, a native of Sawmill, Arizona, possesses extensive experience in healthcare leadership anddemonstrates a profound commitment to serving our local communities. Dr. Young obtained her medicaldegree from The University of Arizona College of Medicine. Dr. Young completed her residency with theBanner University Medical Center at South Campus Family Residency Program in Tucson, Arizona.Since 2016, she has worked as a Family Medicine Physician at Tséhootsooí Medical Center (TMC), while also fulfilling her leadership roles, including Chief of Staff, Director of Medical Services and interimChief Medical Officer at TMC. Dr. Young’s comprehensive background in healthcare management underscores her dedication to providing quality care and advancing healthcare and public health services within local communities.
As CEO, Dr. Young will oversee all operations of the Fort Defiance Indian Hospital Board, Inc., ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare services to our communities. She succeeds Interim CEO Christine Becenti, who has served intermittently and has made significant contributions to the enhancement of healthcare delivery at FDIHB.
The Fort Defiance Indian Hospital Board Inc. serves as a critical healthcare provider for the NavajoNation and surrounding communities, committed to delivering quality medical and public health services.Under Dr. Young’s leadership, FDIHB will continue to strive forward to enhance clinical services and financial stability and growth.

On June 17, 2022, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorized emergency use of Moderna & Pfizer-BioNTech COVID 19 Vaccine to include children down to 6 months of age.
Beginning Wednesday, July 6, 2022, Tséhootsooí Medical Center Pediatric Clinic will provide Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines to children 6 months and older.
